“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.” ~Maya Angelou

“Seva” is a Sanskrit word meaning “selfless service” or work performed without any thought of reward or repayment. This is the art of giving with no need to receive, where the act itself is a gift to everyone involved. I turn to seva whenever I feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of matters I'm trying to address, whether personally, or in a societal level. Shifting my focus from myself and the challenges we're facing towards my community gives me immediate relief and tremendous hope that I can, in fact, make a difference.

Below are some of my efforts in giving back to the community.

  • Co-founder of Love in the Luggage Social Impact project, currently an advisor.

  • Climate Reality Leader, committed to taking on the climate crisis and making a positive impact in our planet’s future work with former Vice President Al Gore, and world-renowned scientists and communicators to come up with solutions.

  • Volunteer at The Learning Garden and a member of SLOLA - Seed Library of Los Angeles

  • Tutor in 826LA, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills

  • Former yoga teacher at YogaTree Portrero, Guru Ram Das Ashram, and RaMa Institute Venice

  • Urban Permaculture Institute San Francisco -- Permaculture Design Certification and volunteer at urban gardens across San Francisco
